Women Build

Building Strength, Stability, and Sisterhood in East St. Tammany Parish

What is Women Build aka The Rosies?

The Women Build program empowers women to build Habitat for Humanity homes, enabling them to positively impact the lives of children by making homeownership a present reality for families.

Women Build is not about excluding men; it’s about including women. Women are often intimidated on a “mixed” construction site; but in the comfortable environment of a Women Build site, they quickly learn construction skills.

Become an East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity ROSIE!

Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build Rosie program is a designated time when only women help build a Habitat home. This is especially significant because many of the Habitat homeowners are single women/mothers.

The “Rosie Program” is a special program started by East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity in 2016 to garner more awareness, participation, and sponsorships for the Women Build.

Program Overview

Rosie teams are composed of approximately 10 women, led by a Team Leader. Each Rosie raises or obtains sponsorships of $500. Each team builds on a Habitat house for one day.

  • Networking with other female business and community leaders
  • A photo shoot as “Rosie the Riveter” by Paul Wood Photography
  • TONS of press coverage for the Rosie & her sponsors – the Facebook traffic from the pictures is HUGE and priceless!
