Home Repair Program

Our Repair Program helps qualified homeowners in East St. Tammany Parish by repairing homes to make them safe, dry and accessible.

Who Qualifies?

  • Low-income families
  • Disabled owner-occupied homeowners
  • As an Aging in Place Habitat for Humanity affiliate, additional services may be available for recipients age 55 or older.
  • Honorably discharged U.S. military veterans or active-duty personnel who meet the program qualifications and live anywhere in East St. Tammany Parish.

Repairs may include:

Our repair program is driven by limited resources and personnel and will be restricted to the main house structure. Repair services may include a variety of minor home repairs, interior and exterior. Typical minor repairs include:
  • Sheet-rock
  • Carpentry
  • Doors & windows
  • Flooring
  • Minor plumbing or electrical repairs
  • Accessibility improvements
  • Roof repairs or replacement

Homeowner Qualifications

  • The house must be at least 15 years old and demonstrate a need for repairs based on inspection
  • The homeowner must plan to reside in the home for three (3) years after repairs or prorate reimbursement of the project costs
  • Meet income requirements
  • Have U.S. citizenship or permanent, legal residency
  • Maintain current mortgage, homeowner’s insurance policy and property tax payments
  • Complete required sweat-equity hours
  • Be present during the repair project
  • The combined gross (before taxes) income for all household members over 18 years must not be greater than the amounts shown in the chart

East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity does not work on:

  • Blighted property, or in severe state of neglect or disrepair  
  • Manufactured housing such as mobile hollies & trailers or on rental properties
  • A home unsafe for Habitat personnel or subcontractors to perform work
  • Homes with severe termite damage
