Hosted by East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity
March 14, 2026
East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity invites eligible homeowners to participate in “We WILL Leave a Legacy”.
On March 14, 2026, licensed Louisiana attorneys will prepare FREE simple wills and healthcare powers of attorney (POAs) for qualifying participants. This event is designed to provide affordable estate planning support for families who may not otherwise have access to legal services.
Because your legacy deserves protection.
In Louisiana, many families delay creating a will or healthcare power of attorney due to cost or uncertainty. Without proper estate planning:
Property transfers can become complicated and expensive.
Families may face unnecessary court involvement.
Healthcare decisions may be delayed during emergencies.
Creating a simple will and healthcare POA ensures:
✔ Your property is distributed according to your wishes
✔ Your loved ones are protected from legal complications
✔ Someone you trust can make medical decisions if needed
✔ Generational stability for your family
At Habitat, we believe safe and stable housing includes long-term security — and that includes legal preparedness.
To participate in “We WILL Leave a Legacy,” applicants must:
Own real property (land or a home)
Have household income less than 80% of Area Median Income
Own total assets valued under $250,000 (including bank and investment accounts)
Be available to complete the required will questionnaire and any pre-event sessions
All wills are prepared by licensed attorneys.
Spots are limited.
This initiative reflects Habitat for Humanity’s broader mission — strengthening families through stability, education, and long-term planning.
As housing affordability continues to impact Louisiana families, protecting the homes people already own is just as important as building new ones. According to recent data on housing affordability in Louisiana, many households are financially stretched — making access to free legal services even more critical.
By helping homeowners create wills and healthcare directives, we are:
Preventing generational property loss
Supporting responsible homeownership
Promoting financial literacy
Building stronger, more resilient communities in St. Tammany Parish
Space is limited.
